In 1911 a local builder introduced the game of bowls to Upper Hutt when he put down two rinks on his lawn. Several locals joined in the games and the following year the Upper Hutt Bowling Club was formed on its current site. The original clubrooms were constructed in 1915 and have evolved over the years into the two story club rooms of today. The club has two cotula greens and one astro turf green which is used throughout winter.
Our club has a proud tradition of producing notable bowlers including Centre Gold Star winner Bill Goodwin and North Island Representative John D Leitch.
